Day 11: Take a Missional Tour of Your Neighborhood

Welcome to Day 11 as you
Take the Missional Challenge!

Take the Missional Challenge is a 31 Day experience designed to help align believers with Jesus' mission. Each day's post includes missional concepts and activities. For more information - click here.
You can't love the people around you like Jesus if you don't know who they are, and the context where they live. By researching and knowing your community in depth, you will begin to understand it, respect it and love it. (Dave DeVries, Six-Word Lessons to Discover Missional Living)
What would it look like to be a tourist in your neighborhood - to discover all the wonderful and unique characteristics of the mission field right around you?

Being on mission in your zip code requires that you do a little research. Open your eyes to see signs of hope - ways that God is already working around you. Focus on "the urgent need in our neighborhoods, which are filled with diverse cultures of Americans who desperately need the gospel of Jesus and life in his church." (Mark Driscoll, The Radical Reformission)

DAY 11 ACTION STEP:
Take a "tour" of your neighborhood.

What's distinct about your neighborhood and those who live there?

Read instructions to prepare to Take a Missional Tour of Your City.

Set aside some time to...
  • Walk around your neighborhood.
  • Observe.
  • Ask Questions.
  • Listen to Stories.
  • Hear the Languages.
Don't hurry. Listen...and learn.

As you get to know your community - seek to discover what it would look like if changed by the gospel.

Day 11 Missional Challenge: Discover God's heart for your neighborhood. Take a tour and look for ways God is working and how you can join Him.
