While resistance to following Christ in my experience is often more a matter of the heart and will than of the mind, reflection on some common questions may be helpful to some where those questions pose barriers:

• The challenge of atheism.
• The how and why of the origin of the world.
• The cause and solution to the problem of evil.
• Does truth exist independently of our view of it?
• How does the Gospel compare to other worldviews?

(Sometimes when discussing such questions with friends who seem to enjoy engaging in debate I ask: "If you had a satisfactory answer to the question we are discussing, would it make a difference in your decision of whether or not to follow Christ?" If the answer is "no" then the discussion could go a long ways with that person being no closer to encountering Christ. If the answer is "yes" then I will do all I can to remove the barrier.)
